BOSS Silencers and Nikola Tesla

The most common question we get at BOSS Silencers is "what makes your silencers any better than the other hundred or more silencer brands on the market?" This is an excellent question, and the answer is "science!" Our silencer baffle technology was inspired by a patent by Nikola Tesla from 1920 called a "valvular conduit," but better known simply as the "Tesla Valve." The concept states that you can restrict the flow in a single direction of a fluid conduit by adding unique, solid-state cavities along the path. These cavities re-route the flow back towards the same direction as the source of the fluid, creating turbulence and dramatically slowing its flow. For years, people in the silencer world have surmised that it was impossible to apply this theory to a silencer due to the 3D nature of silencers and their gas flow, because there is no straight path, or bore, in the Tesla Valve model, and probably a dozen other reasons. However, through a series of trials and errors, BOSS Silencers has discovered a viable application of the original Tesla Valve to the complex nature of suppressing muzzle gasses. By using a unique combination and orientation of vents in our high-pressure baffle stacks, this application provides two, unique positive attributes: dramatic and noticeable reduction in sound pressure levels for a given silencer size/volume, and substantial reduction in back pressure. Our sound reduction is frankly unparalleled and we challenge anyone to do a side-by-side comparison of our silencers against any equally-sized competitor on the market. Our back pressure performance is somewhere in between a full-flow through silencer and the best non-flow through silencer on the market.

If you want the reduced back pressure of a flow-through but still want the sound reduction of a non-flow through, BOSS Silencer products are your solution!
